BHS 1, Condoleezza Rice 0

On Monday April 27, ex-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, hereafter referred to as Condi, visted Stanford Univeristy, her alma mater. She was there to deliver a speech on policy, and afterwards she answered questions at Roble Hall. It was here that she proceeded to get railed by a student named Jeremy Cohen. Two things:

First, some of you Kettlers out there may remember Jeremy Cohen, becasue I certainly do. A BHS graduate of 2006, Mr. Cohen and I sat next to each other in Mr. Carley's Chemistry 31 class and I referred to him as "Dark Matter" due to his weird obsession with dark matter theory (see who-gives-a-shit.com). Little did I know that Jeremy would become a hero for asking Condi the toughest questions she has faced about her role in torture during the Bush administration, as revealed by Justice Dept. memos (see major human rights violations).

Second, please appreciate how rare this really is. I have NEVER, and I mean NEVER, see a past head of state react like this to simple questions, let alone questions from an undergrad. Go to 00:14 and enjoy. Also notice how quiet the room gets.



The most ironic part is that Condi prefaces ALL other comments with the quote "You have to do what is right". I want to know, please, how torture is ever "right"? Sure it can be justified (i.e stopping terroist attacks) but torture is never right.
