This year Bill Gates lost 18 billion dollars.
Despite losing such a grand sum, he still managed to reclaim his spot atop the Forbes Billionaire List. According to the latest research, Gates comes in at number one with an estimated 40 billion dollars. Warren Buffett, the notarized investor, fell to second place after losing 25 billion dollars. He checks in with a measly 37 billion. Yes, this guy lost 25 billion so now he's only got 37 billion. What the fuck.
10 of the top 20 on the list are American. This is opposed to last year when American's held only 4 of the top 20 spots.
The only member of the top 20 whose net worth rose during the past year is New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg. Bloomberg, who is ranked 17th, earns a salary of $1 a year as the Mayor of New York. His company, Bloomberg LP, benefited from a re-evaluation and he also bought a 20% stake in Merrill Lynch.
