In 1999, Apatow produced a television show called Freaks and Geeks. The show starred actors such as James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, Martin Starr, Linda Cardellini and many more recognizable names. Although the series was short lived, it received critical acclaim and is often considered the "greatest TV series to last only one season."

Fast forward 5 years to 2004 when Apatow produced his first mainstream hit Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Since the release of Anchorman, Judd has practically created his own genre of comedy. He has produced and written box office hits such as The 40 Year Old Virgin, Talladega Nights, Knocked Up, Superbad, Walk Hard, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Step Brothers, and Pineapple Express.
