STORRS - More than 100 people were arrested during Spring Weekend events at the University of Connecticut over the past three days, university police said Sunday. That's twice as many arrests as last year.
The three-day event hit its peak on Saturday night, with about 15,000 people gathering at the X Parking Lot by 11:30 p.m., UCONN police Maj. Ronald Blicher said in a statement Sunday.
Between 6 p.m. Saturday and 4 a.m. Sunday, UConn police made 47 arrests for charges such as criminal trespass, narcotics offenses, weapons offenses, interfering with police, breach of peace and reckless endangerment. Blicher said only six of those were UConn students.
State police also patrolled each of the Spring Weekend events, although they haven't released official arrest numbers yet.
